Because it takes courage to feel and courage to create content for kids that highlights their true lived experience, we have created this album as a resource for radical childcare providers, parents, caregivers, educators and anyone who values emotional intelligence!
We offer you this album directly from our hearts. We wanted to create songs that reflect the emotional realities of the children in our lives while at the same time offer them a chance to think through different moments of conflict that arise in their day to day life. “I wanted to play” cultivates children’s empathy and ability to hear “no” from peers–a crucial aspect of practicing successful consent. “Sit & breathe” prompts creative brainstorming for self-management and emotional self-regulation in moments of anger. In “left out” a child experiencing social isolation (in part due to the gender binary) finds solace in nature, building resilience and self-empowerment to make change in their world. “Jesse’s friend” explores feelings of jealousy and loss in a friendship triangle with an uplifting resolution. Our title track, “courage to feel,” brings together diverse musical talent to celebrate the challenges and rewards of developing emotional intelligence! Special thanks to Linda Moody on guitars and vocals in “courage to feel,” El Beh on cello and vocals in “courage to feel” and bonus track, and Benjamin Pastel on percussion in “courage to feel,” “i wanted to play” and “sit and breathe.” See the links below for the full album and printable materials!
